Kristin Mugford
Managing Director, Bain Capital Lecturer, Harvard Business School
Kristin Mugford joined Bain Capital, a leading global private investment firm, in 1994. Ms. Mugford currently serves as a Managing Director and member of the Credit Committee of Sankaty Advisors, Bain Capital’s credit and distressed debt affiliate. She is also currently an Executive in Residence at Harvard Business School, where in the spring of 2012 she taught the course “Venture Capital and Private Equity”. Ms. Mugford has been a senior member of the Sankaty management team since it was founded in 1998. Today, Sankaty has over 180 employees in offices in Boston, Chicago, London, Luxembourg, Melbourne and New York and approximately $20 billion in committed assets under management.
Prior to the formation of Sankaty, Ms. Mugford was a Principal in Bain Capital’s private equity business. Ms. Mugford began her career at The Walt Disney Company, where she worked in corporate strategic planning and the consumer products division. An active participant in charitable organizations, Ms. Mugford is outgoing Chair of Boston Children’s Hospital’s Board of Overseers and a member of the Board of Fidelity Charitable, the nation’s second largest public charity and top public grantmaker. Ms. Mugford is also an active supporter of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. Ms. Mugford received an MBA, with highest distinction from Harvard Business School where she was a Baker Scholar, and an AB, magna cum laude from Harvard College. She resides in Wellesley, MA with her husband and three daughters.
